Yosemite National Park – Sunset from Artist Point

Tunnel View is easily one of the most iconic and photographed regions of Yosemite National Park. Ansel Adams got that bug in us I suppose! Since it is usually so overrun with tourists, not to mention the fact that we wanted to get a little hike in, we decided to hike up to Artist Point to watch the sunset. Plus we knew it would be a lot more peaceful up there!

Artist Point is a pretty easy 20ish minute hike from the Tunnel View parking lot, and as expected, we had it all to ourselves!

The view into Yosemite Valley truthfully isn’t a whole lot different than it is from Tunnel View, but it is slightly better because you’re quite a bit higher up. (And of course, the solitude!)

Sunset was absolutely majestic, especially with the clouds from the bomb cyclone adding some drama to the scene.

We stayed until it got dark, then hiked back to the car by headlamp. (And you DO bring a headlamp on your hikes, right?!)
