Yosemite National Park - Nevada Falls Hike

This was one photoshoot in Yosemite National Park that I was really looking forward to – the hike up to Nevada Falls to photograph that gorgeous scene for golden hour, and then we’d be hiking down in the dark. Yay headlamps!

We took the normal route over the Vernal Falls footbridge, then up to the junction of the John Muir Trail and the Mist Trail. The Mist Trail was closed due to a rockslide, so we would head up the JMT, which was a bit longer though WAY easier on the knees. Pretty good tradeoff!

I loved seeing the gorgeous autumn foliage on the way up, and then as we gained even more elevation, the snow and ice crept in. Not enough to make the hike dangerous or sketchy, but definitely enough for some amazing photographs.

After some more elevation gain, we found ourselves at Clark Point for a quick stop.

A little further on down the trail and we found ourselves overlooking Nevada Falls and Liberty Cap in the distance. What an absolutely STUNNING scene!

We fired up our headlamps and headed back down in the dark. And YAY ME for not falling into the Merced River!
